Mijas Costa is the coastal side of the municipality of Mijas, running between Fuengirola and Marbella. It combines long beaches, established residential areas and golf, with the white village of Mijas Pueblo up in the hills behind.

The lifestyle

La Cala de Mijas is the heart of the area: a former fishing village with a pedestrian centre, a weekly market and a wooden boardwalk that follows the shore for kilometres. The pace is relaxed and residential, with shops, schools and services open all year and the airport closer than from almost anywhere else on this stretch of coast.

What you can buy

There is a wide mix: apartments and townhouses in Calahonda and Riviera del Sol, many with sea views from the hillside; villas in El Chaparral and El Faro near the beach; and a growing number of new developments around La Cala and its golf resort. Prices are generally more accessible than in Marbella for a similar size of home.

Who it suits

Families and year-round residents who want everyday convenience, buyers who travel often and value the short drive to the airport, and those looking for a holiday home with good rental potential. Golfers have several courses within minutes.
